Playground Wood Chip

Playground Wood Chip, also known as Playground Mulch is Engineered Wood Fiber (EWF) is made from wood chip. Playground Wood Chip is an impact absorbing, playing and recreational surfacing product made of 100% natural wood. This is a mixture of Spruce Pine and Fir. This is the most common choice of safety material in playgrounds across Canada. Playground Wood Chip is free from toxins, leaves, allergens and twigs.

When the Playground Wood Chip is compacted down, they “knit” together and form a firm, stable accessible surface. This is tested per accessibility standard F1951. Once installed, Playground Wood Chip will ‘weave’ together to form a traversable cover that provides access for strollers and walkers. This help forms the safest surfacing available for playgrounds. It is shredded and screened to a fibrous consistency and specified dimensions, with individual chip size typically no larger than two inches long.
